You may be looking for a hybrid, but you want something that is a step up from the Toyotas and Hondas that are so popular today. If luxury is what you want from a hybrid, then check out the Lexus GS450h Hybrid. You will find that this is a luxury vehicle that is also a hybrid, offering you great performance and good fuel efficiency as well. The vehicle holds five passengers, it is technologically advanced, and it is really the first hybrid that offers high performance, for those that have a need for speed.

The Lexus GS450h Hybrid actually has a 297 horsepower 3.5 liter V-6 gasoline engine in it, but it also has a battery pack and a 197 horsepower electric motor as well. Together they are able to produce 340 total applied horsepower, and a 0-60 MPH acceleration time of less than 5.5 seconds.Performance you would normally see in a 4.5 liter V-8 engine under the hood.

Although this hybrid definitely packs a whole lot of power, the problem is that it can really eat up the gasoline, which means you may not really get the gas mileage that you want from a hybrid. Of course, if power that you want, you will definitely get it from this vehicle, but it seems like a pretty expensive way to get a hybrid that may not provide you with the gas mileage that you want.

The good news it that in the past year, the Lexus GS450h Hybrid has undergone a lot of changes to make it a better option. The EPA estimates that the 2009 gets 22-25 mpg, which is not very efficient in the big picture but for this size of a vehicle along with it's extra performance is quite good.

You'll still get plenty of luxury with this vehicle, and the newer model definitely provides better environmental benefits that the first release of this vehicle. Hopefully, they will continue to improve on the fuel efficiency.

There are many luxury features that you can enjoy in this car as well. The navigation system is simple and voice activated, it has a surround sound 14-speaker system in the vehicle, a dual zone climate control, rear camera for backing up, and upholstery made of leather that looks classy and elegant in the car.

There are seat belts, side curtain airbags, front airbags, stability control, anti-lock brakes, brake assist, and a whole lot more to keep you safe when you are driving. Large enough for the whole family, this is a vehicle you can trust your family's safety to.

Of course, you will find that this vehicle is a bit more expensive than most of the other hybrids out there, although this is expected from a luxury vehicle. You will pay a base price of over $56,000 USD and if you go with all the options, you'll pay about $63,000 for this car.
